Fashion Show...
So, one of my old bestfriends from Middle School just asked me if I would be interested in being the makeup artist for her fashion show May 28th. She's another upcoming designer who attends The Arts Institute in Hollywood. I believe her label is called "Bad Phood."
Anywho, I'm pretty excited and hope everything goes smoothly as planned. This will be one fashion show where I wasn't the one getting my hair and makeup done. I'll actually be behind the scenes! YES! I've always wanted to do it all. Be able to be behind the scenes and not always in the scene or whatever lmao.
There is no pay, but just like any other profession (especially in this industry) you gotta crawl before you walk. Something else I can add to my resume, so I'm DOWN! I can't wait.

As far as I'm concerned, the 80s fashion, street wear, hippie styles, crazy colored hair, vintage shit, b&w photos, studs and spikes, tattoos && Docs, crazy nails && rings "Trends" will NEVER die. So never think you're "original". We're all copying off one another. Get to know one another and embrace that shit in your own individual way.
But, we can ALWAYS tell who's NOT being themselves and just want to do the shit to try and fit in or look "cool." if you're all about being girly, super high fashion, baby phat and rocca wear fiend or all about big name labels 24/7, that lifeSTYLE (get it?) described above, ISN'T for you. So, don't try to switch up just because you see it surrounds you. it's okay. Most people grow out of certain styles over the years and eventually convert. This shit doesn't just happen overnight. DIG?
so, I said that just to say this:
you don't have to be crazy tatted OR into certain shit to be cool with me. I accept anyone as long as your not cocky, you're trustworthy and not a flaker.
i will never understand why some people feel the need to almost "make" themselves like certain shit I like or do certain shit I do in order to feel like they'll be accepted. I really dgaf. do you , but if you truly like the shit I like that's just a plus, too : )
most don't understand that I got a lot of influence with the things I enjoy in life from my mother and just life situations growing up. My mom is very diverse so I've experienced a lot of things, more than most people. I am grateful for that. I like different music because of her, fashion because of her, art because of her. As I got older a lot of my style and shit changed. Dealing with a lot of death and shit, I then got into lots of "Dark" clothing/styles. That's just how I dealt with it, I guess. I love colors, ripped shit, burned shit, fast shit. Idk. I'm into it all. It's hard to explain to those who know me but dont really know me and to those who just dont know me at all. I've dyed my hair all kind of crazy shit, cut it, etc etc. That's just JL. There are manyyy people similar to me, but it doesn't mean I like them all lmao. and then there's a percentage of my likings that come from just being inspired by people, magazines, artists. Venice Beach (believe it or not) beholds a lot of my inspiration For years now. Beyonce and Rihanna's style. Michael Jackson. Regular people. things. just a lot of shit. So, please don't feel the need to try and change yourself to fit in with me unless you're just trulyyy trying something different or evolving into something else. people have been doing that shit since middle school and I'll never understand it because I felt like I accepted everyone who accepted me. Idk. do what you wanna, but I felt like I needed to voice that.

INDIAN FUCKING FOOD !!!
SO, today I went to one of my favorite Indian spots on Melrose called "Star Of India" for THE BEST chicken curry (vindaloo), Naan Bread && white rice. When I say it's the best curry I've ever had, I MEAN IT. All white meat chicken, naan bread white rice w/ curry sauce is like one of my sweetest escapes! LOL! The vindaloo originally comes very spicy, and I used to keep it that way until I realized it was interfering with my smooth flow and I would have to keep stopping to drink my water lmao! It was still good, but I like to be able to eat until I'm full. NO STOPPING. so now I get it NON-SPICY. Amazing GOOD. As most of you know, I have a meaaaan sweet tooth. So, of course I ended my meal with sour powers, air heads and my ocean blue calypso. BOMB. My phone has the worsttttt lighting so excuse me for the horrible pics. But, if you're ever on Melrose please go there and order my favs. It's VERY cheap, so don't trip.

Scholarship && Shitttt !!!
YUP! I did it. After a 6-page Essay. 3 Pages for my entrance essay in order to be accepted and another 3-pages for the scholarship approval, I made the cut! It's a private Makeup/Fashion Academy in Hollywood, Ca. You have to go through a somewhat strict process, and then sit on the edge of your seat for a week hoping that you got in! Hard Work, pays off. My grades in High School were good enough to probably get me into any school I wanted. But, for a long long long time, I couldn't decide on what I wanted to do with my life. I've been accepted to FIDM in the past, but quickly got scared after looking at the tuition costs. I know I could've gotten a scholarship to attend school, but Fashion isn't the only thing I want to do. It's always been a love of mine, but since 8-9th grade, I've been fascinated with the art of makeup and finally figured out that this is what I want to do. This will be my main career. FASHION & MAKEUP, but I will also have journalism and/or Medical Billing to fall back on. I think the beauty and fashion industry are so interesting and something fun and enjoyable to do on a daily basis. I will be focusing on street fashion, though. Not too much High Fashion as street fashion fits ME and who I am. Chill. I can't see myself doing anything else. I will still have my hand in music as it is my first love, but I'm the type that likes to do it ALL and I will. I guess all of the studying and tutoring, etc pays off. PAY ATTENTION IN SCHOOL KIDS. From pre-school to high school, there should be NO slacking. Thanks to my mommy, there never was. Reading at a high school level in elementary, I knew I wouldn't be a dummy. I just have to do shit on my own time and I did. There's still minor problems in the way of my future success, but I plan on overcoming them, as usual. No Struggle. No Success. I'll figure it out. I'm just really proud of myself, once again. My strong ability to write has paid off. I'm excited. Once my setbacks are accomplished, I will be even more content. Until then, I am slightly on edge, but I'm okay. Thanks to everyone who wished me congrats via: aim, FB or twitter. You're all appreciated. It feels good. I've been wanting to attend this school for 2 years now. It's slowly, but surely happening. FINALLY.
